11 Aug The Process
We know how important our role is creating the dreams you have for your home, this is why we have made an infographic to guide you through our process at Acre Design. We understand it fully but we want you to as well. It’s all part of the fun!
Free Initial Consultation
The first step is to meet at your home and talk about your personal design requirements. The reason we do this is so that we can see the property and know exactly what we’re working with, as well as being able to get to know our client’s requirements, goals, and budget. This is where we will be able to give you a rough estimate on how much the work will cost to complete and also, how long it’ll take. Here at Acre Design, we think it is important to meet with all our potential clients before we kick-start any project.
The Measured Survey
Once you have agreed to work with the architectural designers at Acre, we will then arrange a time for our design team to call around and measure all elements of your home.
This will include:
- All relevant elevations
- Floors & site plans
- Radiators & boiler locations
- Internal & external drainage runs
Here at Acre Design, we have a unique survey checklist which we always go through to ensure accurate and detailed surveys are completed every single time.
Architectural plans and drawings
Now that we have all the measurements we need, a member of our design team will reproduce your home (to within a few centimetres) on the latest 3D software. After this is complete we are able to begin the fun part and design your extension.
Designing your extension
Within 10 days from the measured survey, we aim to get your first draft proposal to you. Then if there are any changes you would like to make we can amend this proposal accordingly and send it back to yourself until you are completely happy with everything. We don’t mind how many times we go back and forth with proposal changes – as long as you’re 100% happy that’s all that matters to us!
Once you are happy with the proposal and final design, we will produce full construction drawings and submit your plans to the relevant local authority. In some cases, you may need planning permission conservation area approval, and/or building control approval. Acre will act as an agent for our clients and fill out all the forms and also deal with the council on your behalf – so you don’t have to worry about a thing!
Choosing your contractor
Here at Acre Design, we have trusted contractors that we work very closely with and use regularly. If you would like us to put you in touch with a trustworthy contractor then we can do, or if you would like to use your own then that is fine too. Even if you choose your own contractor we will all meet at your property to go through every last detail. This ensures peace of mind throughout the works.
